Show #95: May 9, 2013
This week we will continue our Audio Book Adventure. As I mentioned previously, I plan to produce an “Audio Book” via the radio show and its podcasts. Though I have shared highlights of various chapters, I have never covered all of the content. The only way to accomplish that is for the entire book to be read by the author! We began this process with Chapter 1 three weeks ago. Since then, we did an interview with Amanda Augustine with TheLadders, and a special Show on what to do prior to the interview. Over the next few weeks I will continue to read from my recently released book: Successfully Unemployed: Finding or Creating Your Dream Job.  A special note regarding podcasts. We have implemented a change in the way they are delivered. You can now download an entire Show of your choice for just 99 cents or any three shows for $1.99 at SuccessfullyUnemployed.com. All of the Show descriptions are at this website. The 2013 Shows are now available, and as soon as my webmaster is finished, all of the 2012 Shows will also be downloadable. An explanation of the way the book is laid out: I begin each chapter with a segment of my own job loss, search and discovery process. Then I follow with practical steps and strategies for finding your dream job. I close each chapter with a couple of exercises that will help move you forward in your search. This applies whether you are unemployed, underemployed, looking for your first job, or in job transition.  This week I will finish Chapter 1, and begin Chapter 2 Preparing Yourself.  You will discover: •How to Negotiate Your Exit Package •Seeing Job Loss as a Great Opportunity •How to Count Your Blessings •Three Questions to Ask Yourself •Two Phases of an Effective Search

Show #94: May 2, 2013
You’ve Got the Interview – Now What? The interview is the most important part of the entire job search process. If you don’t do well at this, you won’t get the offer. Most speakers and authors spend their time focusing on what to do or not to do during the interview. I also have covered this extensively in my book and previous radio broadcasts. However, on this week’s show we will do something a little different. I will zero in on the successful seven steps that you should take before the interview and after the interview. Implementing these key steps will help ensure that you are the candidate of choice!

This week I will be serving in one of my most important roles as “Father of the Bride!” My oldest daughter is getting married in San Diego. I will be slightly preoccupied, but have arranged for an outstanding guest Host. Greg Wood, CCMP, returns as Host of this week’s show. Greg is a Certified Career Management Professional, author of The Hire Challenge Book Series, and a professional speaker. If you’re following the traditional system of finding employment, characterized by mass distribution of your resume, and chasing every posted job that can be found, you’re probably frustrated and discouraged. Why? Because that system no longer works. Your biggest challenge in job search is differentiation, in order to separate you from your competition. You may need new tools and a new approach. Greg will be teaching you how to conduct a strategic vs. a traditional job search by broadcasting your value to the business community instead of your resume. You will also learn techniques to help you connect with the Hiring Manager and innovative tools to help you beat the competition, convey your value, and win the job offer.

Show #79: January 10, 2013
Have you ever considered starting a New Business? Even on a part time basis? 2013 could be your year to fulfill that dream by creating your own job. January is the month to set goals. Almost 70% of American homes already have some kind of small business. In spite of the perceived risk, it may provide a more secure and stable future than finding a job. This week we will discuss: Why Starting a Business May be Your Best Next Career Move. What Business is Best for You. How to Successfully Start any Business. Real-Life Examples of Successful Business Start-Ups. Networking Your Way to a Successful Business. The website: www.SuccessfullyUnemployed.com has new improvements and resources for 2013. These include: a somewhat regular blog, a place to subscribe for exclusive bonus features, an archive of free radio podcasts, and a way to connect with me on LinkedIn, Twitter or Facebook. You can also buy my recently released book: Successfully Unemployed: Finding or Creating Your Dream Job at a discount.
