The Value I bring to the potential employer is…..
Due to Alan Sherwood’s travel schedule with clients, he turns over Host duties to Ben Jones for the Successfully Unemployed show. Ben Jones, PHR is a proven Human Resource and business professional with over 25 years experience in the areas of new business development, hiring qualified people, training and developing talent. He is experienced as a certified sales trainer and adjunct teacher at university level, with career titles including: Owner, Director, and Manager, demonstrating skills as an expert at bringing people, products and profits together to provide solutions and impact lives.
Topic for the show is a discussion on developing your ”Value Proposition Statement”.
It is important to identify your abilities, experience and knowledge, and demonstrate how you can meet the needs of the company and the job. It is the company’s needs that you must fill, not your own. However, by meeting the companies needs, your own needs will also be met.
Most company needs fall into the following areas: increased productivity, greater efficiency, reducing waste, solutions to problems, reliability of people, industry contacts, specialized skills, and creativity. Understanding the value you bring to the employer is so much more than just telling them what you do; it is telling them why you are good at what you do.

Interviews, …but no job offers.
Are you getting interviews, but no offers? You could have the best resume, but it won’t matter if you don’t know how to interview. A person who does not interview well will not receive a job offer.
This week you have the opportunity to improve your interview skills by listening to an expert. I will be visiting with Lisa Johnson who is currently a Senior Recruiter and has worked as a Corporate Recruiter and Branch Manager for a number of prominent employers in Tulsa during the past fifteen years. Lisa’s expertise is in recruiting which involves identifying top talent, interviewing, resume critique, and coaching on interviewing skills and a professional presentation. She also volunteers as a speaker and facilitator for two job search ministries and at Dress for Success.
What are some of the unprofessional actions candidates make that eliminate them from consideration? How do you remove these actions in order to be considered? What are five things you can do that will set you apart from other candidates? Why is an interview a two way street? And, what are the best questions for you to ask?
